Snap!, Crackle! and Pop!®

This page presents some construction images and additional information about the Snap!, Crackle! and Pop!® creation process.

Prelimary Design Work

When we started prelimary design work on Snap!, Crackle! and Pop!®, we wanted to get a feel for the number of elements that would be needed. Jason Spears created a rough 3D model of Crackle!® to get approx volume. He came in at about 1.91 cubic feet, which translates to approx 11,772 2x4 bricks. When we got to building the model with bricks, it ended up with more hollow space than the 3D model showed, but that original number helped put us in the ballpark.

Armature Base and Design

We knew that Snap!, Crackle! and Pop!® would have lots kids and adults touching them and getting pictures taken with "the boys". So durability and regidity were foremost in our minds. Steve Ringe designed a common armature and base that worked with little modification for all three.
